When my friend was a little girl, she quickly learned to never get attached to her stuffed animals, dolls, toys, blankets or clothing. Having a favorite ‘anything’ wasn’t a part of her life… she would soon have to abandon the item she loved to the garbage can.
Her mother was fond of throwing everything away. My friend became adept at hiding her true feelings and pretending that everything was okay—even when she was crying inside.
I often hear her say, “it is what it is,”—a comment that leaves me feeling that life for her is rather bleak and hopeless… that she feels has no power to change things to something better.
When speaking of abandonment issues, I typically think of a child being left or forgotten, or a teen deserted by friends, or a man or woman rejected by their spouse.
But as I consider my sweet friend’s life I can see the pattern of her little self, forced to relinquish her beloved toys, replaying throughout her very difficult life.
What happened to her wasn't only about losing toys. She learned that loving something meant eventually losing it.
She was abandoned by her friends and eventually, her mother, and later her father. As a young mom, she walked away from her own children for a time—the trauma from her childhood playing on repeat.
If you are feeling like you have been abandoned, please know that it is possible to heal…
In the process, it is important to acknowledge and validate your feelings. Don’t try to suppress your emotions, but let them go in a healthy way.
There are several ways to do this…
• Get a paper and colored pencils or crayons and scribble out the injustice of it all until you can no longer feel the grief in your body. Allow yourself to breathe deeply and let your body shift. Then destroy the paper—it is symbolic of letting go.
• Write a letter to your little self and show deep compassion. Let the child in you know he/she is safe and okay. She if he/she has anything they need to let you know about that time when he/she felt abandoned. Write little self’s answer with your non-dominant hand. This is healing and very therapeutic.
• Write a letter to the person(s) who you felt rejected by. Allow yourself to express all of the grief, heartache and even anger at the situation. Be brutally honest with your feelings. It is okay to use naughty words if you need too. Make the letter at least 3 handwritten pages. When you are done… DO NOT send it. Destroy it. This is also symbolic of letting go.
• Give yourself a session using doses of enlightenment. This one is my favorite because it goes deep and excavates the roots and boulders of the issue. Plus, it raises your vibration. You will feel lighter and you can feel your burdens have been lifted when you are done.
• Learn more about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. His healing power covers everything.
Abandonment can leave you believing that the people and things you love won't stay—or that it's safer not to become attached in the first place. But the patterns you learned through painful experiences don't have to continue playing on repeat.
If you're ready to stop allowing old experiences of abandonment to shape what you expect from life and relationships today, turn to the Divine Doctor and see the dose of enlightenment below.

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how abandonment issues applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 88 + 912 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “eighty-eight plus nine-twelve equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
