The second definition listed in the dictionary for insecurity is “the state of being open to danger or threat; lack of protection.”
I’ll be honest. There are many times when I walk into the church building for my Sunday meetings and I feel completely unsafe—which, according to that definition, also means I’m feeling insecure.
I attend a midsingles ward—ages 31–45. I haven’t had the best luck getting to know a lot of the other women in the ward, because of some unfortunate experiences that I mentioned in a previous newsletter.
I guess they don’t know that I’m not there to steal their crushes. I actually go to church because I want to… weird, right? Lol.
Sadly, some girls don’t get less mean and jealous when they grow up.
So there’s that reason for feeling unsafe.
And there's another reason for my feeling insecure at church. Men. That’s right.
There’s something about attending a single’s ward that sometimes makes you feel like you’re a piece of meat at the market.
I remember one Sunday, I felt a man’s eyes on me—and I knew he liked what he saw. I bypassed him and sat by a woman I’d met once, months before. We immediately started catching up and reminding each other of our names.
Only a few seconds had passed when I felt an aggressive tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see that same man who’s eyes had been following me moments before. Honestly, I felt threatened and I’m sure my eyes flashed with annoyance, because he quickly shook my hand and promptly went back to his seat. I left the meeting a little early that day.
I now understand that my insecurities had been causing me to put some hefty walls up at church. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been consciously attending church without walls, while reminding myself that the people there are potential friends—not enemies…
As a result, I’ve been getting to know a lot of new people—men and women. And it’s been quite refreshing and enjoyable.
That same man who felt threatening and aggressive to me a few weeks before, is now someone I consider to be a friend.
I see more clearly now… He’s just a super friendly guy who is excited to meet new people—not just the women he finds to be attractive.
If you have been feeling unsafe and insecure in certain situations, see the dose of enlightenment below.
There’s a chance you’ve been misinterpreting information the way I was. If so, I want to make it clear that does NOT invalidate your feelings. However, clearing the insecurity it will help you move forward confidently.
And if not… if you know your information is accurate, it will still help you to clear those feelings of insecurity, which will help you get a more clear picture of what you need to do to stay safe.
Much love from Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: insecurity
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how insecurity applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 108 + 892 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-zero-eight plus eight-ninety-two equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
