Aiden’s Fury

After being abandoned by his mother, he moved in with me and his grandpa, along with his dad and 2-year-old brother. Aiden (name has been changed) was an angry, out of control 6-year-old.

He constantly directed his fury at me, craving any kind of attention and yearning for a fight.

Most days he would yell, “I don’t have to listen to you… I am never doing what you say… You are dumb… You are the stupidest grandma ever… I hate you… I hate you… I hate you more than anybody I know… You are rude… I don’t care…” and on and on and on.

It was exhausting.

The things that worked for my kids when they were little, did not work for Aiden. He was acting out while trying to survive all of the trauma, abuse and neglect that had been a part of his short life while his dad was deployed with the US Navy.

When someone acts out, demanding attention, it is because something major is missing from their life. The most basic need we have as human beings is love.

Aiden was seeking to fill his urgent need by misbehaving—it was almost as if he was challenging me to see if I would love him in spite of his behavior—yet he would not allow me to comfort him.

If the emotional need for love was missing from your childhood, or someone you love, you may notice that you continue to look for ways to fill that void as an adult.

Some causes of adults seeking attention are listed below:

· Jealously—if you are feeling threatened because someone or something else is getting your spouse or significant others attention, you may act out to bring the focus back to you.

· Self-worth issues—if you are feeling insecure or overlooked, you may think you need to do something to get attention in order to feel more secure.

· Loneliness—people who don’t normally seek attention may have the urge to do so in order to have someone pay attention to them.

Honestly, as an adult, I have experienced all of these attention seeking behaviors at one time or another.

Prayerfully using doses of enlightenment has been the fastest way to bring balance back into my life, along with the confidence I need. If you have been craving attention, go ahead and say the dose of enlightenment below.

With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: craving attention

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how craving attention applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 163 + 837 = E

Say it out loud with intent: "one-sixty-three plus eight-thirty-seven equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
