Anhedonia: The Silent Thief of Joy

Word of the day: anhedonia—meaning “absence of joy.”

If you’ve ever felt like the things that used to light you up now feel flat… or like life is happening around you, but not to you… you might be experiencing anhedonia without even realizing it.

I remember the first time I felt true, unadulterated joy…

A woman came to my home to introduce me to a supplement to help with depression (Q-96).

I don’t remember exactly how many capsules she gave me—probably 2 or 4—but I do remember within 30 minutes I was feeling pure joy. I thought to myself, so, this is what joy feels like!

Anhedonia is a medical diagnosis and affects many people who suffer with mental illnesses, such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and substance abuse disorder.

You may notice you don’t enjoy being around people, or that you don’t find joy eating foods, listening to music, or having sex. You may feel void of light and a pervasive emptiness—these feelings may be in the form of detachment, monotony, indifference, or pessimism. You may feel like your bucket is empty and you have nothing left to give.

You may think that anhedonia is the same thing as apathy. They are actually different, even though you may suffer from both at the same time. Anhedonia is the absence of joy or pleasure. Apathy is a lack of energy or incentive to do things.

In this life, we experience opposition in all things. It is necessary for you to feel deep sadness, grief, sorrow, depression, discouragement and tribulation in order for you to feel complete and purely wonderful joy.

I believe that you and I came to earth to live our lives in a way that we can identify, experience and live a life filled with that kind of incredible joy.

If you are missing out on feeling joy in your life, it is imperative that you address your situation right away. When you are feeling low, sometimes you need outside help. Here is a list of ideas that you may find beneficial:

1. Nutritional supplements. Em-power Plus (out of Canada, google TruHope) is an excellent choice for bringing happiness back into your life.

Vitamin B-12 as adenosylcobalamin with methylcobalamin, is great for physical or emotional stress, trauma, acute anxiety, depression, neurological episodes or seizues.

GABA is a neurotransmitter that helps calm the brain. (I love the Vimergy brand for B-12 and GABA. It’s a little more expensive, but worth it.)

2. Celery juice. It contains mineral salts that supports the central nervous system, which makes it extremely healing for people who are struggling with ADD, PTSD, OCD, depression, bi-polar, etc. It is also very beneficial for any type of physical illness or disease.

3. Eat healing foods and avoid foods that feed disease. Fruits contain natural sugars that the brain needs for vital functions, plus it is very healing for your whole body. Fruit, combined with a healthy balance of vegetables, herbs and wild foods are a wonderful way to reclaim your health. When you eat clean you can feel the difference in your body.

4. Read food labels. When shopping, be sure to read labels. Here are six foods that you may want to avoid while you are healing: dairy, eggs, corn, canola, wheat and natural flavors.

For more information on healing foods, you may want to invest in the book, “Life Changing Foods” by Anthony William.

5. Find a trusted practitioner. They can assist you in getting back on track by helping you with emotional release and identifying imbalances in your body through cranialsacral dynamics, foot zoning, chakra release, meridian clearing, etc.

You deserve to feel real joy again—and there’s hope, even if it’s been gone for a long time.

Using doses of enlightenment is a great way to pinpoint emotional disturbances that are contributing to an absence of joy so you can get your life back.

If you're ready to take your next step in healing, see the dose of enlightenment below.

With love,

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: absence of joy

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how absence of joy applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 77 + 923 = E

Say it out loud with intent: "seventy-seven plus nine-twenty-three equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
