At the Edge of Comfort

Jeri: When EyeCare of Rigby opened, I was the very first employee. I had experience as a contact lens tech—but that wasn’t what the doctor hired me for. He needed someone to bill insurance and to sell frames and lenses for glasses.

It was out of my comfort zone and I felt not only inadequate, but incompetent!

Jac: I do not enjoy feeling either one of those things! Comfort zones are so… comfortable. I know you overcame those feelings, because you quickly became an expert in that field.

What are your tips for overcoming feelings of inadequacy and incompetence?

Jeri: Dive in, work hard, ask questions, learn everything you can, and don’t give up!

It wasn’t easy and I was dealing with a lot of stress.

I wish I had doses of enlightenment back then—knowing how to release incompetence and other emotions would have helped a great deal.

Jac: Those are great tips. Doses of enlightenment really are one of the most helpful tools to overcome anything!

I really appreciate that you included asking questions. I often prefer to figure things out on my own, but it takes way more time and effort. I’m trying to get better at asking questions.

Jeri: Asking questions definitely helps. I think sometimes we don’t ask, because we fear someone might think we don’t have the ability to do something!

Jac: I think that's true for me. I never asked questions as a kid at school... I think i was afraid people would think I was stupid if I asked questions.

Which is so silly because I've never thought anyone else was incompetent or stupid because they asked questions.

Jeri: Asking questions takes humility, and you definitely reap the rewards! Honestly, it's a great way to overcome feeling incompetent!

If you're ready to release past or current feelings of incompetency, and step forward with confidence and competence, see the dose of enlightenment below!

Love from Jeri and Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: incompetent

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how incompetent applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 91 + 909 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “ninety-one plus nine-zero-nine equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
