Jac: In your opinion, what kind of behavior constitutes a control freak?
Jeri: I’m a control freak when I get anxious or overwhelmed about something. Control is an emotion that’s rooted in insecurity—and sometimes a need for attention.
Jac: Where do you typically feel it in your body when that strong need to control everything kicks in?
Jeri: Well… it comes out of my mouth. Haha. I use my words to try to create order. Correcting people, organizing things, giving advice no one asked for…
Jac: So basically, your mouth becomes your megaphone for control.
Jeri: Yep. But really, it’s hard to say where I feel it, because when I’m in control mode, I’m not aware of anything else. I just need to be in charge. And later, I’ll look back and feel embarrassed. Or sometimes I do recognize it in the moment… but I can’t stop. It’s a vicious cycle.
Jac: That’s such a real description. And you’re right—it’s a stress response. When we feel powerless or anxious, the body tries to feel safe again by managing everything around us. Even if it costs us peace.
Jeri: Exactly. Thankfully, I’ve done enough healing that I catch myself sooner now. And my husband is very forgiving.
Jac: I’ve done it too. When things feel out of control in one area, suddenly I’m micromanaging the dishwasher, among other things.
Jeri: Oh I’ve definitely been there. Control can disguise itself as “helpful” or “keeping the peace,” but underneath it, there’s tension… and disconnection.
Jac: Yep. It lives in the jaw. The chest. The gut. All the places that are trying to “hold it all in” or “make it all happen.” So maybe today we just let some of that go.
Jeri: I’m pretty sure all humans have control issues at one time or another. Or many times…!
Jac: Too true!

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: strong need to control everything
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how strong need to control everything applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 86 + 914 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “eighty-six plus nine-fourteen equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
