Jeri: Our son was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego. Jon was out to sea on assignment and we were thrilled when his wife invited us to come for the birth of their 2nd son.
Charlie and I had so much fun entertaining three-year-old James while we were there. With his bright blue eyes, engaging smile and curly hair he was a darling bundle of adventurous joy. His personality was bigger than life and we laughed and laughed at his funny antics.
All too soon, our visit came to an end without the delivery of the expected baby. James and I had been playing outside and when he realized it was time for us to drive back to Idaho, he got tears in his eyes and ran away and hid from us.
He didn’t cry out. He just kept it all inside and refused to answer when I called. He was trained to be brave… to be the man and protector while his dad was away. He was still a baby. It was too much.
Jac: That is so, so sad!
Jeri: My heart broke. I quickly realized how painful another separation would be for him. His first was when he was barely a year old and his dad enlisted in the Navy.
After that, there were numerous deployments. We were just Grandpa and Grandma… it was hard to understand the depth of the effect it would have on him for us to leave too—after all, we hardly got to spend time with him.
As Charlie drove, I cried and could not be consoled for miles and miles… I cried… the tears would not stop. I’m sure part of that was shedding tears for my sweet, funny little buddy.
Jac: I can’t imagine dealing with those kinds of separations so young. It is heartbreaking that he felt he had to hold everything inside and hide rather than face another goodbye.
If you can relate to young James on any level, see the dose of enlightenment below. And perhaps we can send this dose of enlightenment out to him and to all those out there (willing to receive it) who have felt they have to hold back their tears and emotions.
Love from Jeri and Jac

Today’s emotion is: restraining crying or screaming
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how restraining crying or screaming applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 97 + 903 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “ninety-seven plus nine-zero-three equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
