Have you ever had one of those days (or weeks, months, or years) where absolutely nothing is funny—even things that would typically get you rolling on the floor and laughing to tears!?
One of those days when cracking a smile would be far too painful because the seriousness feels like it has been etched into your face of stone?
I have… those are rough days. Sometimes it comes from overwhelming sadness or grief… sometimes it stems from intense abiding anger or frustration… sometimes it’s born of excessive worry about something I have no control over…
Thankfully, I have learned to pull myself out of that kind of a funk a lot more quickly than I could in the past. Here are some of my best tricks for pulling myself out of a dark, humorless hole.
1. Pray. When I’m at the point of losing my sense of humor, the last thing I want to do is pray. But Heavenly Father always helps bring me a more hopeful, lighter, brighter perspective.
2. Clear emotions. M: Collaborations with the Divine Doctor is honestly the quickest, easiest, most thorough way for me to clear emotions. I also find writing pages (the ones you never look at and burn when your done) and/or trash sending messages (expressing my feelings through writing—usually to a particular person—and then NOT sending it, but deleting it instead) to be a great way to get stuff out.
3. Exercise. Getting a great workout is an amazing way to de-stress and focus on something else for a while. It’s also a great outlet for clearing intense emotions.
4. Nature. There is no better way to find peace within than to get outside and witness all of God’s beautiful creations. Immersing yourself in all the sights, sounds, and smells and becoming aware of His presence brings much needed tranquility.
5. All of the above. My favorite way is to combine everything I just mentioned by hiking, going on a walk, riding a bike, paddle boarding, kayaking, etc.
Remember that God wants you to be happy. He has given you so many ways to heal... find out what works best for you and keep it in your back pocket for next time you find yourself in a funk.
And if you're ready to regain your sense of humor, go ahead and see the dose of enlightenment below!

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: lack of sense of humor
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how lack of sense of humor applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 87 + 913 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “eighty-seven plus nine-thirteen equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
