Something was wrong. I knew it and he knew it. In an attempt to help, he encouraged me to seek counseling.
I screamed at him, “There is no way I am going to go to some shrink who is just going to tell me that I’m crazy. I already know I’m crazy!”
I had been taking medicine for chronic depression… other than masking the symptoms of my ups and downs, the highs and lows, it didn’t work. I would deal with this crap on my own. I didn’t need anyone telling me what was wrong with me.
The problem was, I couldn’t deal with it on my own because it was affecting my entire family in negative ways… but still, I held tightly to the belief that I didn’t need any help. I refused to yield.
I was inflexible, unbending and uncompromising.
An inflexible attitude in relationships can considerably hinder precious connections and lead to conflict. It involves pride, resistance to change, refusing to compromise, and an inability to see or empathize with your partner's perspective—or anyone’s perspective for that matter.
This rigid approach can manifest in various ways, including a lack of communication, avoiding difficult conversations, and a tendency to blame or insult instead of having constructive interactions.
The good news is, when you are aware of this behavior, it empowers you to make healthy and profound changes in all of your relationships.
Here are a few tips for promoting flexibility in your relationships:
• Partner with God. Recognize that He loves and cares about you and those who are most important to you. Sincerely ask and seek His Counsel to overcome this weakness in order to heal your relationships.
• Sincerely listen with an open heart and mind. Pay attention to what your spouse, family members and friends are feeling and take an honest look at their perspective… even if they are different from your own.
• Actively pursue open and honest communication. Share your thoughts and feelings in a respectful and non-judgmental way.
• Be willing to compromise. Look for common ground and be open to making adjustments to meet your spouse or loved ones needs.
• Let go of pride and seek outside help if needed. If your inflexible attitude is a persistent issue, consider seeking guidance from a therapist or counselor to help you learn healthy communication and conflict resolution skills. (I wish I would have done this.)
• Heal yourself… heal the world around you. Recognize the work you do to make changes in healing your life, will have a powerful impact for good in your marriage, your family and friendships.
I want to encourage you to start today… do not delay. Every step you make to overcome that inflexible attitude will have a lasting impact on you, your life, and the lives of those who mean the most to you. See the dose of enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotions are: inflexible attitude
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how inflexible attitude applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 137 + 863 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-thirty-seven plus eight-sixty-three equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
