Dreaded Duty

“You’re really cool. By the way, your dad is awesome too. Tell him hello for me! We went to school together. Oh and I’d like to get to know you better.”

Yikes!!!

In my church, I have a calling where I’ve been asked serve the Single Adults, ages 36–99+. If I’m being 100% honest, I dread our committee meetings… I dread our activities… I dread putting myself in a situation where I have to see people I don’t want to see.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against single people. I’m one of them, after all. Haha.

But there are certain men, close to my father’s age or older, who have expressed interest in getting to know me better. No, thank you.

I’m just not into older guys—especially, if they’re a lot older—like closer to my dad’s age than to mine.

Honestly, I would love to never show up to a single adult church activity for the rest of my life. (There’s a lot more to it than what I just mentioned, but that’s a story for another day.)

Alas, I feel obligated to fulfill my duty, which includes attending those activities…

So sometimes that means having to face much older men who seek me out. I’d rather that they wouldn’t put me in the situation of having to turn them down.

At the same time, I don’t fault them for having the guts to try, even if I think they should know better. Haha!

I’ve noticed that when I get stuck feeling like I have to do something that I don’t want to do, I get a big, ugly headache… and that just makes everything worse!

However, when I take the initiative to deal with my emotions quickly when they arise, I can clear the energy that would have eventually compounded into a headache.

If you’re in a situation where you have to do something that you don’t want to do, see the dose enlightenment below. Trust me, it will make that “thing” you have to do a heck of a lot easier!

Love from Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: don’t want to do something you have to do

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how don’t want to do something you have to do applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 102 + 898= E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-zero-two plus eight-ninety-eight equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
