Emotionally Void Emergency

Jac: I remember the last time we took Dad to the ER, I struggled to feel compassion for him. I felt horrible for feeling the way I did, but I just couldn’t get myself to accept the possible reality of the situation.

He has had so many health emergencies over the years… and so many surgeries… we have almost lost him countless times. Those experiences take a toll on us—his family—too.

Jeri: His health has certainly been an emotional rollercoaster. I hate to admit it… but I have felt the same way.

Why do you think you blocked your feelings of compassion?

Jac: Honestly, I think I immediately went into survival mode, and blocked all of my emotions, because I don’t like dealing with what is happening. I don’t like worrying about his health. I don’t like wondering if he’s going to be ok, or if God is going to continue letting us keep him here. (Thank goodness he is still with us. I’m so grateful. I love my dad.)

Also, I think I was kind of mad at him for having another emergency—which I know sounds so selfish.

Jeri: It doesn’t sound selfish at all. I can totally relate to those feelings. It’s been scary. It’s a miracle he’s still here. Thank goodness for miracles. We have all been very blessed.

Jac: Exactly. I need to remember compassion when things get crazy and stressful. I need to remember compassion when I’m afraid. I need to remember that it’s ok to feel my feelings in the moment and not try to stuff them away during an emergency situation.

Jeri: Me too. Those are excellent reminders. Sounds like you and I are ready to clear those blocks.

Jac: Indeed!

Dear reader, if you are ready to clear your blocks to feeling compassion, whatever the reason, see the dose of enlightenment below.

Today’s emotion is: blocking feelings of compassion

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how blocking feelings of compassion applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 57 + 943 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “fifty-seven plus nine-forty-three equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
