My husband was serving as a bishop in our church at BYU Idaho and was recently released. Being back with members in our home congregation has filled my soul.
I didn’t realize how much I craved the love and attention from my dear ward family. I feel important, valued, and seen—something I have missed for the last 3 years.
Feeling recognized and appreciated is a basic human need. If you aren’t having those needs met you may find yourself on a quest for validation by crying or even screaming for attention.
Some reasons for craving attention are:
• Feeling inadequate or insecure
• Loneliness
• History of being mistreated
• Low self-esteem
• Unfulfilled emotional needs
• Unresolved trauma—can be childhood trauma
• A need to connect with others
I think I have experienced all of the above examples at one time or another. If you are or have experienced any of them, it is so important to recognize what you are feeling and give yourself some compassion, and remember, you are not alone.
I’m positive that there are far too many people who are experiencing the same thing and feeling the same way.
That being said, the crazy thing is… the more you crave attention and connection—the more you push others away because you are sending out a signal that you are desperate.
The good news is… YOU can change the signal! It is easier than you might think.
A simple change in mindset can take the attention you are craving, remove it from you, and make it about someone else.
Pay attention… this is important… train yourself to say, “Who, or how can I love and serve today?” Do it prayerfully. Ask Heavenly Father to guide you.
You will see a huge shift.
Combined with doses of enlightenment you will find yourself breathing easier, feeling comfortable in your own skin, freely giving your attention to others, and living in a higher vibration. Plus, you will be sending out the signal that you are someone others desire to connect with.
See the dose of enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: craving attention
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how craving attention applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 163 + 837 = E
Say it out loud with intent: "one-sixty-three plus eight-thirty-seven equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
