Fill That Bucket!

Jeri: Two weeks ago Charlie had another surgery. I found myself so wrapped up in caring for him and making sure his needs were met, that I had no time for me.

After a week, I was ready to hibernate (probably because I didn’t want the bear in me to come out), and just focus on me!

Although that may sound selfish, self-care is so important for my day-to-day function. I am more enjoyable wife, mother, grandma and friend when I put my needs first and make sure my bucket is full.

Jac: It’s all too easy to get caught up in making sure everyone else is ok, only to discover you’ve exhausted all of your resources and have nothing left to do what you need to do! It’s good to know your boundaries. And really, it’s important to have boundaries—especially when you find yourself in a situation where you are care-giving.

Jeri: Yes! And boundaries are even more important for a long-term care-giver. So much stress is involved. It is critical to find ways to do what you love… things that bring balance into your life… even if you can only grab little snippets of time throughout the day it is imperative to make that time work in your favor.

Jac: Well said! It’s also important to be able to ask for help when you need it, which is far easier if you build a support system. That way, you’ll already have people in place.

If you find yourself struggling because you’re burnt out from meeting everyone else’s needs before your own, it’s time to change. See the dose of enlightenment below and commit to taking care of you first, so that you can nurture others in positive and healthy ways—without sacrificing your own well-being.

Love from Jeri and Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: not taking care of self before others

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how not taking care of self before others applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 97 + 903 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “ninety-seven plus nine-zero-three equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
