Finding Courage to Speak Out

Jeri: We live in a crazy world. I’m feeling more and more how important it is for people to speak up and to share Truth—not just any truth, but God’s Truth. There is so much confusion on every level of society. We need to have the courage to speak out.

Jac: These are definitely interesting times…

Jeri: A few weeks ago we invited our neighbors over for a cookout. My neighbor, Lisa (name has been changed), mentioned how she was having a hard time because her daughter insisted she use the “correct” pronouns when speaking of her friends. Lisa was so stressed out, because her daughter would get angry if she slipped up and said “she” instead of “they.”

Jac: What did Lisa do? Was she able to share her feelings with her daughter?

Jeri: Sadly, I don’t think she did. I think on some level she is afraid of her.

I believe when we speak up right away when something doesn’t feel right to us, it helps to set clear boundaries of what we believe.

Jac: That’s a good point. What are your best tips to give you the courage to speak out—especially when you don’t want to because you are afraid?

Jeri: First, we need to be clear on what we believe. Praying and asking for the gift of the Holy Ghost and the gift of discernment everyday is important in recognizing truth. If something feels off, we need to ask questions and figure out why, instead of allowing someone to convince us to believe otherwise.

Second, find ways to stand in holy places. My holy places are spending time with the Lord through prayer journaling and scripture study, listening to uplifting music, reading books that fill my soul with words of wisdom, and worshiping at church and other holy places—like the temple.

Standing in holy places fills you with power, courage and the inspiration to speak out when you need to. It removes the fear. When you are prepared, you never stand alone. I believe angels surround you and help in these situations.

Jac: Thank you. Now is a good time to clear the fear regarding speaking out. See the dose of enlightenment below.

Today’s emotion is: speaking out

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how speaking out applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 163 + 837 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-sixty-three plus eight-thirty-seven equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.

The Doses of Enlightenment come from the M: Collaborations with the Divine Doctor book by Jaclyn Taylor. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet and want to learn more about how this works, you can get one here:
