Jac: It’s interesting… I’ve heard adults describe certain children who act out as craving attention, but as adults, I’m not sure we recognize ourselves as attention-seekers. Yet we are! There are so many ways adults act out when they are craving attention!
Jeri: That is so true. I must admit that I have been guilty of that before.
Some people fish for compliments, display dramatic behavior, or dominate conversations. The saddest of all is when they play the victim in order to get sympathy.
Jac: Do you know of someone who seeks that type of sympathy?
Jeri: Actually, I do—a sweet, young mom. I met her 12 or 13 years ago. She had just been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. She was going to the university and was broke. I zoned her several times for free and gave her some great information on how to take charge of her health.
I could tell that she didn’t want to believe what she was hearing.
She now is married with two little boys. Her medical conditions have sky rocketed from one to eight, and she shares each and every one on social media, searching for help, because she doesn’t know what to do.
Sadly, she still isn’t open for recommendations to help her take charge of her own health.
Jac: That is so sad. I have seen a lot of similar social media posts, where people are seeking validation through their struggles with their illnesses. It’s heartbreaking.
Jeri: So heartbreaking! I feel that it can be dangerous for people to constantly draw attention to their poor health. Doing so causes health issues to multiply because they are getting so much attention, and they just seem to crave it more and more.
There is always hope and healing. You just need to shift your focus to a more positive view.
Jac: Truth! You get more of what you focus on. I hope your friend learns to focus on good health and healing over health issues.
For all of you who have been craving attention (whether you are acting out in unhealthy ways, or burying that need for attention down deep), see the dose of enlightenment below.

Today’s emotion is: craving attention
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how craving attention applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 163 + 837 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-sixty-three plus eight-thirty-seven equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
