Forgiveness Doesn’t Equal Permission

Every sentence he spoke caused my ire to flare. And then every word that came out of his mouth stoked the fire.

There was a time when I would have felt nothing from his words—at least not consciously. But since healing means feeling—and since I’ve spent many years healing—I now feel a LOT.

People often think that because I exude okay-ness, I can maintain an exceptional poker face, and I have a forgiving and understanding attitude, I must be some kind of pushover non-human that doesn’t have emotions.

I may have have excellent control over the way I express my emotions, but truly, it doesn’t mean I don’t feel those emotions deeply.

There was a time in my life when I was angry about almost everything. I didn’t mean to be, but I couldn’t seem to help it.

My temper was HOT, even though most people couldn’t tell because I really tried hard not to burn them. The major root for that anger was because people weren’t treating me well.

I have since learned why…

Because if you are always understanding and forgiving, BUT fail to express that you are experiencing emotions of anger, frustration, or sadness due to their behavior, they will continue to mistreat you because they misinterpret your forgiveness as: PERMISSION.

Permission to mistreat you. Permission to walk all over you. Permission to disrespect you.

And here’s the problem—when you keep granting that kind of “permission,” those unspoken emotions don’t just disappear.

They pile up inside, layering frustration on frustration, until one day the pressure is so high it comes out as a blazing temper.

Which describes exactly what happened to me—my temper had become so hot because of all the unexpressed anger and frustration that had built up inside of me over the years. It wasn’t healthy.

I’m so grateful for effective ways to clear out the anger and other emotions.

Doses of Enlightenment are a fantastic way to do that.

In fact, in you're ready to cool and clear your temper, there’s a dose of enlightenment below!

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: hot-tempered

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how hot-tempered applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 152 + 848 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-fifty-two plus eight-forty-eight equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
