Free to Be Me

I loved to go to my grandma Bea’s house. She was the best of grandma’s… kept the cookie jar full and was always so happy to see her grandchildren.

She would make sure that my sisters and I had something to entertain us because her son—my dad—didn’t want us to be a bother. Plus, he didn't like noise.

While in college, I remember her commenting to me on a few different occasions that she always felt so bad for us girls. She could never understand why my dad believed that children should be seen and not heard.

She delighted in our little voices.

I learned at an early age that expressing myself wasn’t safe… mostly because my loud self-expression was usually an emotional outburst! Dad really didn’t know what to do with my ‘feelings’—other than to discipline me by making me sit on a chair and be quiet.

I believe that most everyone, at one time or another, has been afraid of expressing themselves.

Has that been true for you?

Maybe you want to avoid conflict or feel like you need to be emotionally perfect before you can safely say anything.

Or maybe you are experiencing low self-esteem and are afraid of rejection.

Perhaps you are feeling hopeless and don’t feel like sharing your thoughts, or perchance, you would rather give someone the silent treatment that talk about what is bugging you!

Whatever the reason, learning to express yourself in words is important to relationships and good communication skills.

There are two ways that have helped me be free to be me when expressing myself. Here are my tips:

1. Get in touch with, and learn to understand your emotional self—the good and bad, the happy and sad. Then use doses of enlightenment to clear out the roots and boulders of things that don’t serve you.

2. Writing letters to God and journaling everything you are thinking and feeling will give you huge insights. Heavenly Father is safe to express your thoughts and feelings to. He loves you no matter what you do and say… Because He is God, you will have a desire to be careful and prayerful with your words. This will help you in your communication with others.

If you are ready… go ahead and say the dose of enlightenment below to help clear your fear of expression.

With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: fear of expression

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how fear of expression applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 96 + 904 = E

Say it out loud with intent: "ninety-six plus nine-zero-four equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
