Primary Blog/Emotional Healing/From Undervalued to Appreciated

Large call to action headline

My head was reeling as to what I considered a complete injustice as I sat in counsel with my bishop (spiritual leader) and the president of the young women’s organization.

I was abruptly being dismissed as counselor to the 14–16-year-old girls in my church after only 2 weeks! The advisor and I had made a fast and delightful connection with the girls within the first week and we were so excited to serve them.

I was devastated to have this wonderful calling stripped from me. It was so unfair and I felt ashamed, exposed, and undervalued.

The president of the girl’s group was dealing with some really difficult things and was making some unnecessarily harsh comments to me, which I felt were unjustified.

When it happened the second time, I decided it would be best to talk to her and kindly let her know if we were going to work together, it was important that we treat each other with kindness and respect.

My desire and intention were to smooth over the rough spots before they got out of control.

Boy, did that ever back fire. She had already made up a story in her head filled with assumptions —and took her story straight to the bishop. He called us both in to his office and released me on the spot. That was a very sad day.

I’m sure you have had experiences where you have felt unappreciated, unrecognized or misunderstood. Things like this happen, not only at church, but in the workplace, social media, at family gatherings, and numerous other places.

Here are some ideas to help you deal with difficult situations and turn things around when you are feeling undervalued:

1. Energetically ground and balance yourself every day. This helps return your body to its natural state and will keep you feeling calm and stable.

2. Write a letter and trash send it to the person(s) who have made you feel unappreciated. Say whatever is on your mind. If you are angry, put it in writing. Be sure to close it in gratitude—even if it’s just “thank you for the opportunity to get this off my chest”. Then destroy the letter. Delete it, Burn it. Shred it. Do NOT send it or save it. Destroying it helps you let go of hurt feelings.

3. Start a movement to let everyone you meet know they are valued and appreciated. It can be as simple as, “I like how you handled that situation,” or “thank you for your smile, you brighten my day.” When you are showing appreciation to others, it is easier for you to feel appreciated.

To help you get started on knowing and understanding just how important and valued you are, see the dose of enlightenment below.

 With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: undervalued

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how undervalued applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 103 + 897 = E

Say it out loud with intent: "one-zero-three plus eight-ninety-seven equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
