It’s interesting and sad to see how people who were once close, can become so divided.

I’m confident you have seen a lot of it happening over the years—especially over the last few years. And in some cases, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.

One division I’ve seen within my own family lately (which, thankfully, is less serious that some divisions that are happening), is whether or not man actually landed on the moon.

I have several nieces who believe it didn’t ever happen, and they have found plenty of evidence that supports their belief—that it was all made up to fool the people. 

Yet my nephew absolutely believes that man did land on the moon and he has found plenty of evidence to support his belief. 

They are each being fed a silo of information designed to support what they believe is true. 

This is the world we live in. Each viewpoint for every issue has it’s own silo of information designed to be fed to those who resonate with that particular viewpoint. 

This polarizes each side and furthers the division, because each side has “proof” that they are right. 

And once people have made up their mind, they will rarely change it—they are unable to change their views when they believe they have evidence to support them.

Honestly though, being right doesn’t matter. What matters is being humble enough to recognize that there are real reasons why people believe what they believe.

What also matters is recognizing that it’s nearly impossible to find the actual Truth… 

Thankfully, there is One source of pure Truth, and we can go to Him and ask. He can give us answers. And sometimes they aren’t what we think they will be.

He has often given me very direct answers. Sometimes in contrast to what I had thought was True, and sometimes in confirmation of my belief. 

Other times, when I’ve taken certain things to my Heavenly Father in prayer—in search of His Truth on the topic—He has asked me if the answer to my question truly matters… and every time He has asked me that, I’ve realized that it really didn’t matter.

Then He reminds me to move forward by focusing on my Savior Jesus Christ and keeping my promises to Him. 

Will you resolve, along with me, to be willing to change your viewpoint to one of understanding and humility and love for our fellow men? Will you resolve, along with me, to take your questions to God before Google?

Together we can make this world better, including our own little worlds within which we reside.
