Normally, picking up 8 pounds is an effortless task for me. However, this time it felt like my arms were going to snap off at the shoulder blade.
I had spent 3 hours shoveling 10–12 inches of the heaviest, wettest snow I’ve ever seen in my life. I wouldn’t be surprised if each shovel full weighed close to 40 lbs.
Trust me, I know what 40 pounds feels like!! (I’ve done my time lugging 40 lb bags of kitty litter all the way across the yard and out to the garage…)
I had been working like a machine, refusing to stop until the job was complete. Thankfully a neighbor popped by to help for a bit or I would have probably been working for at least another hour…
Physical, laborious exercise is healing to me and I needed the outlet that day.
However, I wasn’t paying any attention to what my body was telling me.
By the time I was finished, I was beyond exhausted and it felt like my body was completely out of alignment. I felt like I had broken myself. Now I know why some people use the term “back-breaking work.”
Thankfully, I have tools to quickly remedy alignment issues and I continued on with my day…
However, that night when I reached into the cupboard to grab that 8 lb weight that we use to keep the kitties from breaking out of their room at night, I was a little bit scared for my arms and shoulder blades—they actually felt fragile. I had never experienced anything like that before…
And that’s when I recognized that I had allowed myself to become completely and utterly overworked that day—the very thing I encourage people not to do.
Oops! I had allowed my desire to exert energy and my desire to finish the job to cloud my judgement.
It's important to not only know your limits, but also to check in with yourself and pay attention to how your body is feeling—and then to listen to it!
So... If you’ve ever been a little bit like me, and have ignored your body's warning signs that you’re doing too much... there’s a dose of enlightenment below to help you get back in touch with your body's needs.
Love from Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: overworked
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how overworked applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 69 + 931 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “sixty-nine plus nine-thirty-one equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
