A phrase coined as far back as 1948 has resurfaced in our modern world, it is… hurt people hurt people. It is thrown around as if that should help you comprehend the deep pain and betrayal that has been inflicted on you.
But really, it is so difficult to truly understand why those who should love you the most seem to cause irreparable damage in your life.
It is so hard—when you feel you did nothing to deserve that treachery—to not sink into victim mode… because after all, they wronged you.
Sometimes you may find yourself wanting revenge and a desire to see them suffer the way they made you suffer. But when you think things through, that isn’t really what you want.
There is a beautiful scripture found in Psalms 46:10 that says; “Be still and know that I am God.”
Heavenly Father has been patiently teaching me about embracing this wisdom in the most difficult of times.
One of my sons recently became a Muslim. I am happy for him because Allah (or God) is in his life. As we spoke of the lovely similarities in our beliefs, I had a prayer in my heart that I would understand where he was coming from, and that I would lovingly know what to say.
Little did I know that our conversation was about to take an extremely negative turn, and my prayers were preparing me to respond with love and compassion.
Things were said that were deeply hurtful about me and my foundational beliefs. I was told that I would be destroyed because of things my “church” was funding. It was hard, but I felt prompted to ask questions and to talk about personal responsibility.
When my son was ready to leave, I gave him a hug, and said, “I hope you know how much I love you, and I would never want our differences to come between us or ruin our relationship.”
I had to turn everything over to God. I couldn’t change my sons mind about the things he believed to be true. All I could do was love him, place him in God’s hands, trust His will and be still.
Two days later I received the most heartwarming text… my son apologized for his aggressive and harsh judgment. He saw himself in the story and recognized it was his job to work on his own stuff and not someone else’s. He said, “I appreciate you being receptive.”
It was such a great lesson for me to see “Be still and know that I am God” in action. I am so grateful for the beautiful outcome and for a wonderful son who was so receptive to the spirit.
When you think about the deepest hurt or betrayal that has happened to you—what if you pondered on these questions:
• What if God was working though you to help others (those who have caused you pain and suffering) see the error of their ways?
• What if He used your difficult experience to call the offender to repentance and to teach them forgiveness?
• What if you are the tool to help bring the very one who has caused you unbearable pain back to Him (because you chose to be still and trust God)?
These are really tough questions. I hope you will consider them as you work on overcoming your deepest pain, sorrows and betrayals. If you feel ready… see the dose of enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: deep hurt
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how deep hurt applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 42 + 958 = E
Say it out loud with intent: "forty-two plus nine-fifty-eight equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
