I continued seeing my marriage counselor up until a few weeks after getting divorced. I remember that last session vividly.
I kept expressing guilt for doing this or that, or for not doing this or that. And that maybe if I had or hadn’t done this or that, perhaps my marriage wouldn’t have ended.
I was feeling so much guilt for failing in marriage.
After each and every thing I brought up, my counselor would ask, “So if you had done (or hadn’t done) that, things would have been different?”
My answer was always the same. “Well, no. He never even recognized that I was trying. I could never be good enough for him.”
At the end of our session, she looked me in the eyes and said, “Exactly. People like him will never recognize your effort. You could spend your whole life moving mountains to improve yourself, and it will never be good enough. Nothing would have ever been good enough for him.”
And in that moment, I realized she was right—I felt it deep in my soul.
Looking back, I had made every effort to save the marriage, while he continued blaming me for everything.
All the while… he had addictions that he made no effort to resolve. He lied. He refused to work or help around the house. He called other girls on the phone in front of me. He told me about all the hot girls in his class he couldn’t wait to take on dates.
Yet, I was the one feeling guilty. I’m so grateful that counselor opened my eyes.
The most beautiful thing in the world, is that we don’t have to carry around our guilt and shame. No matter the degree of our guilt… No matter what we did or didn’t do… Our Savior Jesus Christ can and will take it away—if we choose to hand it over.
There’s a dose of enlightenment below to help you clear your guilt. Follow the usual steps, but after you say the dose of enlightenment, I would invite you to visualize yourself at your Savior’s feet as you give it all to Him.
Love from Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: guilt
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how guilt applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 91 + 909 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “ninety-one plus nine-zero-nine equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
