Jac: Did you know that you can have a fear of living!?
Jeri: Actually, yes! We are meant to enjoy and experience life to its fullest, but when we fear life—that is not living.
My grandma Olive was afraid of everything. Her fears were very real, yet also very unrealistic. When my mom was little, Grandma would not allow her to go swimming until she learned how to swim. So of course, Mom never learned, because she wasn’t allowed to get in the water. However, my Mom made sure all of her daughters had that skill.
Jac: How can you learn how to swim (so that you can swim) if you’re not allowed to even get in the water?! That’s really sad.
Life really is about experiencing. And there are so many amazing things to experience! There are not so fun things to experience too, but they usually turn out to be great learning opportunities.
What do you think was truly behind your grandma’s fear? Do you think it was rooted in a fear of loss, or not wanting to deal with the stress of potential life-threatening situations? Or…?
Jeri: I’m not sure, but I wonder if it was because when she was a girl, her little brother died, and then her mom passed away. So it probably has to do a fear of losing someone or something.
Jac: So sad! That makes a lot of sense why she was so overly cautious.
Jeri: When you think about it, faith is the complete opposite of fear. Faith propels us forward. Fear keeps us stuck. Faith gives us the courage to live life. Fear keeps us from living.
Jac: That is so true. Thank you for sharing.
In what ways are you are living, but not TRULY living? Maybe because you are feeling stuck or afraid or bored. Maybe you just like to stay in your comfort zone and are missing out. If that describes you in any area of life, see the dose of enlightenment below.

Today’s emotion is: fear of living
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how fear of living applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 87 + 913 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “eighty-seven plus nine-thirteen equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
