Jac: Inflexibility doesn’t always look like a hard “no.” Sometimes, it looks like a quiet insistence that things be done just so.
Jeri: When I think of being inflexible with life, I think of the attitude of: “it’s my way or the highway.”
Jac: That definitely fits. And underneath that pattern there’s often emotion—a deep fear that drives the need to feel safe or in control.
But sometimes… it also makes for a funny family story!
Jeri: Oh no, you must have one in mind...
Jac: I do! It makes me think of Grandpa Max. He was such a stubborn man.
I’ll never forget the Thanksgiving turkey experience. Grandma asked him to thaw the turkey. She went to fill the bathtub with hot water, and he wasn’t around… so she carried the turkey back there on a tray and was going to let him put it down into the tub once it was full.
He didn’t like the way she did it… or maybe he didn’t like that she didn’t wait for him to carry the turkey all the way through the living room, down the hallway and into the bathroom.
So he brought the turkey all the way back to the kitchen on the tray and set it down. Then he picked the turkey up off the tray and carried it all the way back to the bathtub. Then he came back for the tray and carried it all the way back there too.
It made absolutely no sense for him to do that, but he just had to make his point that she should have let him do it his way.
Jeri: I’ve never heard this story!
Jac: Haha. Grandma and I were quite possibly to only ones to witness that tantrum. But I would think you would have seen some of that attitude while you were growing up.
Jeri: I sure did! And sadly, I have seen it in myself too. Thank heavens, I have the tools to overcome that.
Jac: Right!? Honestly, I think we all have a little bit of that "my way or the highway" energy at times. Maybe it shows up in our relationships, our routines, or how we resist change.
Life doesn’t always go how we imagined it—and if we stay rigid, we miss some of the growth and grace that comes with letting go.
Jeri: So true. And sometimes it’s not even big things—it’s the little daily disruptions that can trigger us when we’re stuck in needing control. That’s why I love having simple ways shift the energy and prevent that kind of behavior!
Jac: We really are blessed to have ways to help us become better and better.
If you’ve ever caught yourself bracing against life—resisting change and needing things to go exactly your way—the Dose of Enlightenment below is for you.
It will help you release the emotional pattern of inflexibility and find a little more ease in the unexpected.
Love from Jeri and Jac

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: inflexible with life
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how inflexible with life applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 78 + 922 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “seventy-eight plus nine-twenty-two equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
