Jeri: I love the holidays, but this year has been hard. Last year we experienced some serious family trauma, and those emotions that I thought were long gone have resurfaced. I find myself wanting to hibernate and wait until the holidays are over because I feel like I just can’t give anymore—bringing the family together presents a challenge I don’t feel ready to face.
Jac: That’s not fun to feel that way. In general, I find the holiday season to be overwhelming. When you start feeling like the holidays are more work than they are worth, it’s difficult to find the true meaning of the holiday. That’s why I like to try to keep things simple, but honestly… that’s really hard to do when there’s always so much going on.
Jeri: I agree. There is a lot happening around the holidays that can affect all of us in different ways. For me, I felt compelled (otherwise, I couldn’t function) to take time to be still, re-evaluate what was happening in my life, give myself some doses of enlightenment, and change up my diet in order to bring in some much-needed brain balance. Citrus fruits and fresh squeezed orange juice everyday is like sunshine in a cup and is so healing for me. Heaven knows, Idaho needs some sunshine right now to combat depression and those overwhelming feelings.
Jac, how are you navigating the holidays? Have you found a way to simplify things?
Jac: Those are really great tips. For me, it’s important to keep up my regular daily routines (including exercise), and stay productive. I also find myself only saying yes to things that I actually want to do, plus an occasional thing that I know I should do, even if I don’t want to. It’s not a perfect system. But I really do have to protect my time to prevent overwhelm, because overwhelm only leads to burnout.
Jeri: That is true, and burnout leads to feeling like you can’t give anymore! To our dear readers, please join us by saying the dose of enlightenment if you are feeling trapped by overwhelming feelings of the holidays. It’s time to reboot your brain!

Today’s emotion is: can't give any more
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how can't give any more applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 125 + 875 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-twenty-five plus eight-seventy-five equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
