Neighbors from Hell

For the last 25 years we have lived in the same neighborhood, in the same cute little house. We have seen neighbors on both sides of us come and go. We have had good neighbors, and neighbor’s who were so horrible, we labeled them the neighbors from hell.

It was easy to become irritated with the hellish ones—especially when they were constantly banging… did you notice I did not say ‘knocking’… on our door and demanding that we take their kids somewhere... or insisting on using our computer.

One time, the mother wanted my husband to help with her teenage daughter—while we were there (I wasn’t about to let him go there alone), she told her daughter, “Listen to him, he just wants to be your father”! That was weird!

They were so foul… and these experiences aren’t even the worst of what happened.

It was so hard living next to that family (the father was in the military), that we just wanted to hibernate, avoid them at all costs, and not answer the door. We were constantly stressed and worried about what would happen next.

The truth of the matter is, in situations like this, you cannot control annoying neighbors. Nor can you control the cranky clerk at the checkout line, or the driver who is aggressively tailgating you.

The one thing you can control, is how you choose to react to any given circumstance.

This neighborhood has been a great teacher. I have noticed that as I learned to set healthy boundaries, develop more compassion and understanding for people, our little community began to change.

I was able to focus more on the humanness of those who lived next door. Before I knew it, we had less and less irritating neighbors (because the bad ones moved away) and more and more wonderful neighbors.

I truly believe that my desire to change how I viewed people, changed my neighborhood.

If you want to see a transformation in the world around you, remember this, and say it out loud at least three times… “For things to change, I must change.”

It’s true: change yourself, change the world around you.

If you are tired of allowing people or situations to irritate you, and you are ready for a powerful change, see the dose of enlightenment below.

With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: allowing people or situations to irritate you

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how allowing people or situations to irritate you applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 91 + 909 = E

Say it out loud with intent: "ninety-one plus nine-zero-nine equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.

The Doses of Enlightenment come from the M: Collaborations with the Divine Doctor book by Jaclyn Taylor. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet and want to learn more about how this works, you can get one here:
