Obstructing Love

Jeri: What does obstructing love mean to you?

Jac: I think of two things. Blocking yourself to showing love to others, and/or blocking yourself from receiving love from others. So… basically heart walls.

I saw a client a while back who is going through some relationship trauma. She had emotional blocks to both giving and receiving love. It was very sad, but thankfully, during the session she was able to let a lot of that go.

Jeri: That is sad. Love is a key emotion is our foundational relationships. I think there are a lot of people who are dealing with that type of trauma.

Can you tell us more about heart walls and how to heal them?

Jac: We subconsciously build heart walls because we feel the need to protect ourselves due to trauma. We tend to make them bigger and stronger over time as we experience more and more of the hurts and pains of life. We don’t mean to do it, but that instinct to survive is powerful—and the scope is far beyond just our physical safety.

Sadly, when we wall ourselves off like that, it can be difficult to connect with people—even when we deeply desire it. That is a massive obstruction to giving and receiving love.

There are various ways to clear heart walls and heal the heart. Prayer, clearing emotions, foot zoning, craniosacral work, visualization, etc. are all great ways to work on healing heart walls.

The key is setting that as your intention for the work. Trust that what needs to come up for clearing will come up.

The most important thing to remember—no matter which technique you are using—is this: DO NOT FORCE IT. Force only causes more trauma.

Allow the layers of the heart walls to clear as you (or your client) feels safe to do so. Some days it may be safe to clear several layers. Other days, it may only be safe to clear a fraction of a layer. Patience is required for proper healing.

It may take you minutes, hours, days, months, or even years… regardless, whatever time it takes for you, is absolutely ok and good and right for you.

Jeri: I love this. It is so true that we need to be patient and kind with ourselves. So many times, we want things to change instantly, and that doesn’t always happen. It took years to build up that heart wall. Becoming aware while gently and intentionally doing the work is what is needed as you purposefully heal heart walls.

If you have noticed that you have been obstructing love and are ready to address those heart walls, see the dose of enlightenment below to help you heal.

Today’s emotion is: obstructing love

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how obstructing love applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 72 + 928 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “seventy-two plus nine-twenty-eight equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
