The biggest decision they say you’ll ever make… Well… I screwed that one up. 

It went really wrong. I was divorced 15 months later, but trust me—it felt more like 15 years. That’s how bad it was. 

The thing is, I had prayed about it. And I did what I felt was right. So how does something that feels right go so wrong? 

Of course, I understand now where I went wrong. I’d received an initial answer through prayer. At a time when that guy was doing good and treating me well. I took that answer as something I needed to hang onto for dear life. 

However, if I had asked God again a few months down the road, I believe He would have given me a different answer and told me to get the heck out of that relationship.

Unfortunately, I didn’t understand at that time that someone else’s agency can change the answer. So even though I had seen red flags pop up before we got married, I thought I had to stay true to that initial answer, and I stupidly dismissed all the red flags. 

Needless to say, I have learned a lot over the years. However, big decisions still get into my head a little bit. There’s a part of me that says I can’t trust myself with big decisions.

I understand that’s not God’s truth. I’ve been making much better decisions for years. But the fear still pops up sometimes. That just means I need to clear another layer.
