Perfect Parenting Doesn’t Exist—So Why Are We So Hard on Ourselves?

As I sat in Sunday school, I felt my face flush and my chest tighten. I wanted to leave, but I just sat there… my body was rigid and I felt like a stone.

I felt triggered by the subject of the lesson because it reminded me of how I failed my children for years as they were growing up.

I thought I had worked through it. But obviously, this was another layer of the internal war waging somewhere deep inside of me… another layer of refusing to forgive myself.

It was tough sitting through that lesson and listening to my class members make intelligent comments about what seemed to be perfect parenting, raising children, and how they positively influence their grandchildren.

In my heart and mind, I know they were not insinuating they did everything right—because they weren’t, but in my state of mind, that is how I was feeling.

I would have felt all alone, but I knew my husband, who was sitting next to me, was just as tense as I was.

I came home and slept it off. He internalized it and got sick (that is until he cleared emotions and had a major break-through).

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be really uncomfortable at church!

It gives me the chance to take a deeper look at myself and embrace what needs to be forgiven… to clear another level of things that have been held on tightly for way too long.

If you are being hard on yourself for things that happened in the past… things you are not proud of… it’s time to let it go, to take a deep breath and allow yourself forgiveness.

Say the dose of enlightenment below.

Ahhh... I feel so much lighter. :)

With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotions are: refusing to forgive

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how refusing to forgive applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 119 + 881 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-nineteen plus eight-eighty-one equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
