Quieting the Heart and Mind

Jac: He was standing up there sharing his thoughts confidently, yet he seemed troubled and disconcerted—perhaps even discombobulated. He even commented twice that his thoughts seemed to be “out there and all over the place…”

On one level he seemed to be connecting with people by dropping little nuggets of truth, yet if one listened closely, they would recognize that he was talking in circles and speaking mostly from his own confusion. I couldn’t wait for him to wrap it up and be done. It was painful thing for me to witness.

Jeri: Poor guy. That does sound painful.

Jac: He seemed so lost and like he doesn’t know where to turn, even though he seems to believe he is turning to God. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like he’s hearing God’s voice because his own thoughts and philosophies are playing so loudly in his own mind.

Jeri: It’s no wonder he seemed confused and discombobulated. It’s definitely hard to discern Truth when there is so much noise on the inside.

Jac: Do you have any tips for quieting the inner workings of the heart and the mind?

Jeri: I do… there’s a heart mind connection exercise that I love and have found to be very helpful.

You just sit in a quiet place, relax, and place one or both hands over your heart. You will notice your breathing start to slow… continue to breathe in for about 5 seconds, then breathe out for about 5 seconds—do this for at least 3 minutes.

The key is to think about gratitude, appreciation, or feeling calm during the exercise—that really makes a big difference.

It will help you open up so you can be heart centered.

Jac: Fantastic. Thank you. I’m going to give that a try!

……

(A few minutes later…)

……

That really works well. I do feel much calmer, and I hadn’t even realized I wasn’t calm!

Jeri: I’m glad it worked for you!

If you are feeling discombobulated, see the dose of enlightenment below! And try that exercise, too. Let us know how it goes!

Love from Jeri and Jac

Today’s emotion is: discombobulated

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how discombobulated applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 92 + 908 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “ninety-two plus nine-zero-eight equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
