Jac: Have you ever met someone who just loves to serve and give and show love to other people, but who refuses to receive service and love from others?
Jeri: I have and it makes me feel sad. I have a friend, who from the first time we met, we made a fast connection. I just love her and was looking forward to building a deep friendship.
She is amazing is so many ways, but sadly, she will not accept service from others. It created a huge imbalance in our friendship and made it very difficult to build that friendship based on love, service and trust.
Jac: Why do you think it can be so difficult for some people to receive?
Jeri: I suspect it’s because they have been conditioned to believe that it is better to give than receive. The thing is, if you don’t have any receivers, there can't be any givers! There must be a beautiful balance between giving and receiving.
When you give a gift or do a service for someone, it makes you feel so good inside to know it was appreciated, and in turn the receiver feels happy and grateful.
Just like being a good giver is important, so is being a good receiver. I love to think about and look at the gifts (both physical and spiritual) I have received over the years and remember who they came from and how it made me feel.
I experience so much love and gratitude just thinking about the people who have blessed my life in such wonderful ways through their love and service. I hope that others feel those same things when they think about me.
What are your thoughts?
Jac: It is important to know how to receive. I remember when I injured my knee fairly seriously. I needed help and honestly, I felt like the Lord was telling me that I needed to learn to allow other people to serve me.
I have come to realize that not being willing to receive is denying yourself opportunities to be grateful, denying other people the blessings they need from serving, and… worst of all… it’s denying God’s hand. Who are you to tell God you don’t need what He inspired someone to do for you!?!
Jeri: I’ve never thought about it that way, but it makes so much sense.
Now would be a good time to clear difficulty receiving. See the dose of enlightenment below.

Today’s emotion is: difficulty receiving
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how difficulty receiving applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 80 + 920 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “eighty plus nine-twenty equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
