Senseless Baseless Grudge

When Rory told me he was leaving, I was so very sad. He was the best work friend I’d ever had! Not only did we get along fantastically, but he did high quality work expeditiously which helped my designs shine and come together quickly.

We were like a well-oiled dream team machine from the moment he arrived on the job.

I understood why he had to leave, but I really didn’t want him to go.

Robert (his replacement) was a good, friendly, quiet, happy, humble guy. The kind of guy who gets along with everyone. Except for me.

He didn’t know that though. He didn’t know I was mad at him for taking Rory’s job.

Heck, I didn’t even know I was mad at him for taking Rory’s job, because it didn’t even make any sense! Rory chose to leave for a brighter opportunity, but I really missed him and how fun and productive work was before he left.

Truthfully, Robert came with extra skills—he was also a photographer, so that cut down on the travel I had to do for photoshoots. Which made my life easier—just in a different way than how Rory had made my life easier.

But I was still mad at Robert for no real reason.

Then Robert and I got sent to Portland together for a week long, around-the-clock press check with the sales rep for the print company.

Sadly, I had an unfortunate triggering experience with an ex at the airport. I never shared with Robert what had happened in the security line right before we met up at the gate… and I never shared how awful and anxious that very fresh experience made me feel…

However, Robert’s quiet strength brought me a lot of peace and comfort anyway.

I started to realize on the flight to Portland that I had never connected with Robert or adapted to the changes at work because I missed Rory and was reminded how sad I was every time I saw Robert.

Unfortunately, I tried to cover up my sadness with anger and hadn’t recognized that I was misdirecting it at Robert, which made it impossible for me to accept him.

I’m grateful I finally realized the flaws in my behavior and subconscious thinking so I could build a positive work relationship with him.

Our press check hours could be brutal. We had to go in every 7–12 hours—even if that meant getting up in the middle of the night and groggily driving almost 30 minutes from the hotel to the press to make sure the colors matched up and pages were all printed properly.

In-between checks, we got to do a lot of fun things like visiting the Japanese Zen Garden, watching the Blazers play the Pacers in VIP seats, going to the beach, and eating a lot of amazingly delicious, but ridiculously expensive fancy food.

Robert and I became really good friends on that trip.

If you have been struggling to adapt to changes in your life—whether at home, at work, with your family, or in any other area of your life—see the dose of enlightenment below.

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: unable to adapt to change

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how unable to adapt to change applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 100 + 900 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-hundred plus nine-hundred equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.

The Doses of Enlightenment come from the M: Collaborations with the Divine Doctor book by Jaclyn Taylor. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet and want to learn more about how this works, you can get one here:
