Shallow Shares

Jeri: She sat across the room from me with a smile on her face. She seemed so nice, warm and friendly.  I thought, I would love to get to know her, I bet she would make a great friend.

After spending time with her on several different occasions, I soon realized that she wanted to know everything about me, but was incapable of sharing anything about herself. She easily shared information about her husband and children… but would never open up to anything personal.

The friendship seemed so one-sided, and soon I felt like it wasn’t safe to open up to her or to be vulnerable in any way.

Jac: I’ve had experiences like that before. It’s hard when you are hoping for a deep friendship, but it ends up being mostly surface. What do you think makes for a good and solid friend?

Jeri: Someone who you can laugh and cry with. Someone with whom you can share your deepest secrets. Someone who loves and understands you, even when you are going through super hard things. Someone who doesn’t judge you when you are grumpy, but can turn your frown upside down if it’s needed. Someone you can feel safe being vulnerable with, and who isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in return.

What are your thoughts on vulnerability and developing a solid friendship?

Jac: You can’t have a REAL friendship without vulnerability. Vulnerability is what brings depth to relationships—and depth is what makes it solid. And like you said, if you aren’t willing to share your feelings, emotions, and details about your life with someone—the good and the bad—they will start feeling unsafe to share with you.

Jeri: Clearing the fear of vulnerability will help you feel safe to share your feelings. It will also open you up to attracting friends who are ready to be vulnerable so you can experience the depth you long for in a dear friend. See the dose of enlightenment below.

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotion is: vulnerable

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how vulnerable applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 86 + 914 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “eighty-six plus nine-fourteen equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
