We had just moved to a new neighborhood, which meant we would be attending a different congregation in my church. I was excited to make a fresh start and make and acquire different friends.
Our first Sunday, hauling my newborn in his baby carrier, I walked into the room where the women were gathered, and glanced around the room for a friend.
I easily spotted a darling lady—she looked happy and radiant—a perfect new friend for me. I made my way over to her and sat down. We quickly made introductions. She was so nice.
But just as quickly, she got up and left to sit with her friend, leaving me and my infant alone. I felt left out and abandoned.
Feeling left out is actually very common—but isn’t a good experience for anyone. Maybe you have been excluded from a group activity, or maybe your family left you at a gas station when you were little. (That happened to my nephew on more than one occasion!)
Facing a situation where you have been abandoned can make you feel like you are unimportant, obsolete, or forsaken.
Sometimes you may want to express what you are feeling by responding with anger, or coming to the conclusion that people don’t want to spend time with you.
If you are feeling abandoned, it is important to identify your true feelings.
Don’t confuse anger with the sadness you may feel. Journal what you are feeling, or just sit quietly, breathe deeply, and listen to what your body is teaching you.
What is the real story?
It may not be related to the conclusions you have come up with. You may find it helpful to express what you are feeling to the person (or someone from the group) who left you out.
Also, positive self-talk is effective in restoring your confidence and remembering you are or great worth.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: abandoned
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how abandoned applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 101 + 899 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-zero-one plus eight-ninety-nine equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
