We sold our first home in 1985 and my husband was so excited to use his skills to build us a new home. We had the plans drawn up. It was everything we wanted… our dream home… but I had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I begged Charlie to have the plans redone—it was too big and would be more than we could afford. His frustrated and final decision was, “But if we do that, we will lose $800!”

It seemed as if everything that could go wrong during the building process went wrong. The strangest problem of all was the threat of extinction to the Rocky Mountain Spotted Owl… which made the price of lumber sky rocket.

By the time Charlie finished building our beautiful home, we were so house poor we could barely afford food and clothing for our 4 little children. I couldn’t shake the feeling that we had made a big mistake financially.

$800 was peanuts compared to what we were facing.

Eventually we lost that home and had to start completely over… at the time it was so hard and embarrassing… but it actually turned out to be a huge blessing for us.

Did you know that around 77% of people experience financial worries? They are afraid of losing their job and income, they fear debt, financial obligations, emergencies or being dependent on someone else.

They worry because they haven’t saved enough, or because they don’t have any money to save.

Sometimes they are so fearful that they don’t even dare spend anything! It can be a vicious cycle.

If you have been experiencing fear regarding money and feel like there is no hope, please clear the emotions surrounding your fear by saying the dose of enlightenment below. 

Getting rid of the fear will give you the courage to make a plan and follow through. Pray and ask for guidance, and, if necessary, seek financial help.

If you do a google search there are free programs online for you to take advantage of that will help you budget and get back on track. 

Don’t be afraid to pay a reputable professional if you are prompted to do so. Ask around for recommendations. They will work with you. The more you learn and the faster you seek help, the sooner you will experience financial peace.
