Jac: I keep hearing about clients and friends and family members who are having trouble sleeping.
We have already talked about how holding onto emotions can affect our sleep, as well as how clearing those emotions can help us improve our sleep… so I thought maybe we could talk about some of the foods and herbs that help support healthy sleep patterns.
I know you have some experience with that… what are some of the foods you have used to help your sleep?
Jeri: I try to focus on foods that help support my liver. In order to sleep through the night the liver needs glucose from sweet, fresh fruit. Getting plenty of fruits, vegetable and herbs throughout the day—and at nighttime— really helps with quality sleep. Plus, it prevents me from having to wake up 5 times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!
Nettle leaf is a wonderful herb that I take right before bed. It boosts liver health and helps to stop frequent nighttime urination, which is a big plus for me. I sleep so soundly and don’t awaken any more to every little noise. An added benefit… it is great for women’s health!
One more thing I do faithfully, is take the Ultimate Minerals supplement from Green Smoothie Girl, every night. One of its benefits is better sleep, so I added it to my daily and nighttime regimen.
Because it’s impossible to eat enough food to get the amount of minerals the body needs, good supplements from trustworthy sources are important.
I know that you suffered with insomnia for years, what foods and supplements were helpful for you? And are there any foods you avoid that you’ve found interfere with your sleep?
Jac: That’s all really good information, thank you. I did find out that food dyes were one of the main causes of the insomnia I was dealing with, so I avoid those as much as possible.
I’ve also noticed that mangos have been helpful for my sleep—and they do work better when I eat them with the intention to help me sleep. I should eat more mangos!
In his book, Life Changing Foods, Anthony William recommends avoiding eggs and natural flavors if you’re struggling with sleep issues and insomnia.
He also suggests adding in the following foods to help counteract insomnia: avocados, berries, cherries, dates, lemons, limes, mangos, pomegranates, artichokes, celery, leafy greens, potatoes, radishes, sprouts and micro greens, sweet potatoes, cilantro, ginger, licorice root, turmeric, coconut, raw honey.
Jeri: We enjoy many of the foods on this list. If you don’t already own Life Changing Foods, I highly recommend it. The foods in this book have a spiritual lesson and teach about the emotional support they offer. It is one of my favorite books and really helps me to eat mindfully.
Jac: And since it never hurts to clear emotions—especially when you’re seeking better sleep—see the dose of enlightenment below!

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: insomnia
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how insomnia applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 107 + 893 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-zero-seven plus eight-ninety-three equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
