I looked over at my assigned table and immediately felt uncomfortable when I saw the large man in the three-piece suit. I didn’t have the best feeling about him, but I sucked it up and walked over to find my chair.
He was dominating the conversion at the table, made some comment about my t-shirt and “the 1% crazy” (yes, my shirt did say that—he didn’t get it or appreciate it), and moved on to the next guy.
I got the sense that he had no respect for women, and being the only woman at an overly crowded table for eight, I felt lonely… like I didn’t belong—even though everyone else seemed nice enough.
I decided, assigned seat or not, I was not going to sit at a table where I didn’t feel welcome by the BIG guy. The rest of the day, I moved about and met some nice people—but never quite connected.
Feelings of loneliness in a crowd is hard… especially when you are hoping to experience some great interactions with others.
I read somewhere that ‘loneliness is the brain’s way of motivating you to reach out and build your support system’. I really like this because our inner compass is working in our favor. We just need the courage to take action.
Here are some great tips to motivate you to reach out—even if you feel awkward.
• Prepare an elevator pitch—a quick and concise introduction about you and what you love or what you do. Keep it at 30 to 60 seconds—the amount of time it takes to ride an elevator from one floor to the next. It is a great ice breaker and will give you confidence to start a conversation.
• Visualize yourself alone in a crowded room, meeting and greeting others with a friendly, genuine, heartfelt smile meant to attract new friends.
• Set a powerful intention of what you want to see happen… the type of people you want to meet and the positive experience you want to have.
• Give yourself an emotional release session before you and clear out all the insecurities that have surfaced—let them go!
Before my two-day mastermind meeting, I prepared my elevator pitch and completed a nice dose of enlightenment session. Because of that, I wasn’t super bothered by the BIG guy, and I had the courage to walk away from a situation that made me feel uncomfortable.
My pitch made it super easy to meet and connect quickly with other people on the first day. Had I taken the time to visualize and set an intention ahead of time, I am positive my experience on the 2nd day would have been completely different.
This is an important side note: Extroverts have the ability to make quick connections, but introverts—although slower—have the capability to make lasting connections!
Think about that!
When you are feeling lonely, remember it’s just your brain taking charge. The loneliness isn’t fear or insecurity… it is your intellect motivating you to reach out!
Put the above tips into action and clear loneliness by saying the dose of enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: loneliness
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how loneliness applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 79 + 921 = E
Say it out loud with intent: "seventy-nine plus nine-twenty-one equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
