Jeri: It was ridiculously late. Charlie, my husband, was in his garage office, which is located at the back of our lot. I finally decided to call him to see how his Sunday talk was coming along. He assured me he was just about done and would come in the house in a few minutes.
For some reason I was unsettled and couldn’t fall asleep. I felt myself getting angry. Why is he being so insensitive and inconsiderate. Why doesn’t he just come in the house so I can go to sleep?
An hour and 15 minutes later, at 1:15 a.m., I called him again. This time I let the irritation get the best of me and I wasn’t so kind.
Jac: Oh dear. It’s not fun to let your emotions get the best of you.
Jeri: No, it isn’t. It took me a while to decompress, even though he was so sweet and very apologetic. In my mind, I needed to stew a while longer until I could finally fall asleep, around 2 a.m.
Instead of taking responsibility for my own feelings, I decided to blame Charlie because I was annoyed and tired.
Jac: It’s too easy to jump into the blame game—I’m not sure why we think it makes us feel better in the moment when, clearly, it has negative effects on us. I’m curious how you felt and what you thought of when you first woke up the next morning….
Jeri: I honestly felt like I was being stupid to hang onto something so trivial. It just wasn’t worth it. I wanted to let it go and apologize quickly. He had a good reason for being so late… I just hadn't been in the mood to really listen to him.
I think beauty sleep is more about keeping the monster within tame! Haha!
Thankfully, he has a wonderful, forgiving nature, and we worked it out very quickly with just an “I’m sorry,” and a heartfelt hug.
Jac: What a great end to a discontented experience! Irritation is an emotion that we can all relate to—especially when we let our frustrations build up inside of us!
For all of you who have been feeling irritated about this… or about that… or about ALL of the things… see the dose of enlightenment below!

Today’s emotion is: irritation
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how irritation applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 137 + 863 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-thirty-seven plus eight-sixty-three equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
