Have you ever heard of a family with 4 bulls in it? Haha. That’s us. My mom, my sister, my brother and me… We are all Tauruses.
I’m not convinced that the bullheadedness is as related to when we were born, as it is related to us having a lot of stubborn blood in our family line. Yet, somehow, we all seem to get along quite well most of the time.
My maternal grandfather was undoubtedly the most stubborn man I’ve ever met in my entire life (he was not a Taurus). And we all take after him. Especially me.
I have a cousin (who I have often considered to be my favorite cousin) who is also incredibly stubborn and she’s not a Taurus either. She’s just the posterity of Max Martin and that’s something powerful.
When I was young, my cousin and I used to spend 2 weeks each summer together at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. For the first five days or so, we would get along famously. But once that “honeymoon phase” of our long-awaited reunion was over, we would butt heads relentlessly.
We somehow always got into the dumbest arguments over stupid facts. In her mind, she was always right. In my mind, I was always right. And neither one of us was willing to let go because we were both so darn bullheaded.
I remember one time, I pulled out the encyclopedia and proved my rightness. And even then she wouldn’t concede. It was right there—right in front of her face—published in black and white… yet she couldn’t and wouldn’t admit defeat.
That moment changed me, and I consider it a big turning point in my life. I realized just how stupid it all was, and I chose to let it go.
I learned that being right isn’t worth all of the contention and bad feelings that abound during arguments. I love my cousin dearly and didn’t want to waste an entire week (and then some) each summer fighting with her about trifles.
I continued to share my views, but more importantly, I chose to hear her out and respect her views. I’m grateful for that experience, as it has shaped who I am today.
Our world is fraught with the craziness of polarized opinions and viewpoints on countless issues. But is it worth it to ruin relationships just because someone else sees things differently than you do?
I think not. I believe that the way we treat people is the most important thing, regardless of their beliefs. We can share our views without being disrespectful of others in their differing views.
If you've been butting heads with someone and want to clear that energy, see the dose of enlightenment below!

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: butting heads with someone
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how butting heads with someone applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 150 + 850 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “one-fifty plus eight-fifty equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
