We argued. I hated that he had an opinion on absolutely e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. What a know-it-all. If he was trying to impress me, he was failing miserably—even though if we were in a debate, he would be considered a clear winner.
I had nothing left to say. Since I couldn’t seem to express myself in a way that he would actually listen to, I would shut the heck up. If he didn’t want to hear me… I would make sure he didn’t have to.
The silent treatment began…
It was a weapon I used a lot in the early months of our marriage… that is until he informed me how he had learned it was a form of abuse and that he would rather have me yell at him than say nothing at all.
So, I then filled the silence with fits of rage.
Either way… I was not expressing myself in a way that I could be heard or understood. I didn’t know how to share my feelings in a healthy way. To make things more confusing… my husband didn’t know how to either.
It has taken me years to learn to use my voice to communicate lovingly and responsibly and to not react like a crazy woman when I feel challenged or threatened in our relationship. A threat can be as simple as a little disagreement.
It has also been a huge ah-ha to discover that men and women are really nothing alike. A man is single focused with laser like precision, whereas, a woman easily jumps from one task to another, to another with ease.
Learning to let Him talk until he is done—without me interrupting him has allowed me to show him the love and respect he deserves.
In turn, he is communicating with me in a whole new way that allows me healthy expression.
If you are feeling that you aren’t being heard, or that what you have to say doesn’t matter, ask how not expressing yourself applies to you.
Be honest and prayerful. Ask with a desire in your heart to know what you need to let go of in order to make your relationship(s) richer. Write down what comes to you, then say the dose of enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: not expressing self
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how not expressing self applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 81 + 919 = E
Say it out loud with intent: "eighty-one plus nine-nineteen equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
