Jeri: I once heard someone say that if you make decisions based on what’s currently in your bank account, then you are worshipping money instead of God. I would love to hear your thoughts on that…
Jac: Wow… that’s intense! Honestly, I both disagree and agree with that.
Jeri: In what way?
Jac: First, I believe that God wants us to learn to be good and wise stewards. I believe he wants us to make good decisions regarding money. That requires us to know what we have and to utilize our resources (including money) in wise ways… ways that will bless our families and communities… ways that will keep us free from bondage.
In that sense, I am not worshipping money, but striving to fulfill my stewardship in a way that is pleasing unto God.
Second, I also believe that our present circumstances can hold us back. If my bank account is low in funds, and I’m so worried about the numbers I see in my bank account that I constantly decline opportunities for growth, then where is my faith!? That could very well be considered worshipping money over God.
If I had allowed my bank account to govern my decision (over 15 yrs ago) about whether or not to attend foot zoning classes, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thankfully, I knew God wanted me to take those classes.
It took a lot of faith to trust that God would provide when I committed to doing what I felt was right for me. Truly, He has provided abundantly, and continues to do so.
On the flip side, if I have a lot of funds in my bank account, and start spending money all willy-nilly, always buying what I want when I want… to the point that I start letting my seemingly unlimited funds be the answer to all that I do… forgetting to ask God to guide my journey… not caring to ask Him what His plans are for me and for the money… To me, that would be another way of worshipping money over God.
I think it all depends on where you’re heart is. If you forget God (and what He can do!) where money is concerned, then there is a problem.
Jeri: Wow! Thank you. You really brought up some great points of me to ponder on. I love those insights.
Dear reader, if you are like me, and are ready to partner with God more fully in your concerns about money issues, see the dose of enlightenment below.

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: overly concerned about money issues
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how overly concerned about money issues applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 70 + 930 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “seventy plus nine-thirty equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
