Jeri: “Mom, Cameron is gone. We can’t find him anywhere. We think he snuck off to play with Sam.”
Oh, great! Not again. I thought.
Now I would have to leave work and find my truant little boy. Not only was I living with mental illness, I worked outside the home, and my young daughters were tasked with watching their little brothers after school.
My emotions were all over the place. In every aspect I felt like I was a failure as a mom… but I also felt like I didn’t have a choice.
Jac: That’s so sad you felt that way. I never saw you as a failure of a mom. I just thought you worked hard and had a lot of stress. Cam and Sam were so sneaky and always getting into some kind of trouble. We always felt bad when Cam disappeared, and especially when we couldn’t find him anywhere so we had to call you.
Jeri: I’m relieved that you don’t remember it the way I do.
As the boys got older, they have made some choices that has brought them a lot of heartache. That was another level that left me feeling like I was lacking as a mom.
If I would have just been a better mom, they would have made different choices… choices that would make them feel happy. It is always easy to look back on life and see ways I could have done things differently, wishing I could change things… but life doesn’t work that way.
Jac: It sure doesn’t.
Jeri: When you deal with those type of mothering emotions they go deep and are on so many different levels.
Jac: Have you been able to work through those feelings?
Jeri: I feel like I have. It has taken a lot of work. I have found that being conscious of the way I’m feeling is important. Seeking forgiveness and forgiving myself for feeling like I failed my children has been huge, and recognizing that my all of my kids turned out in spite of me is a big deal.
Even though my son’s choices led them on a different path, they have turned out to be wonderful adults, and I am so proud of them.
And of course, using doses of enlightenment every time a new layer opens up has helped so much. It is important for me to own my own stuff—my children don’t need me to place that on them. It has actually opened my heart up and I am able to love them even deeper than when they were little—I didn’t think that could be possible.
Jac: That’s beautiful. It really pays off when you’re willing to do the work.
If you are ready to clear feelings of lacking in motherhood (fatherhood), or if you feel you are lacking in any other area of your life, see the dose of enlightenment below.

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: feeling you lack as a mother
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how feeling you lack as a mother applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 67 + 933 = E
Say it out loud with intent: “sixty-seven plus nine-thirty-three equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
