What a Play Night Taught Me About Being a Stubborn Goat

It was closing night of the grandkids play… one more night to enjoy their hilarious antics on stage. I was determined to get there early in order to save 14 seats. I was really hoping for the front row.

When we arrived, the first row on the left side was taken. The director of the play stood next to her books, sitting on the front row of the right side. I asked her if she was planning on sitting on there.

She said, “Yes, I’m sitting here. But my family is coming and my daughter may be bringing a couple of friends, so I don’t know how many seats I will need.”

I quickly replied, “Then I am saving the whole row for you and your family.”

And I quickly laid a bright, gold blanket across the chairs. (The director is the most wonderful, selfless woman I have ever met. Her kids have graduated and moved on, yet she donates her time, abilities and finances to Activate because she loves the kids and wants to help them to develop their talents and confidence in speaking while learning and having fun.)

We then saved the entire 2nd row for our family.

I was surprised when, 5 to 10 minutes later, the director walked over and picked up her books from the chair that she wanted to sit on, preparing to move. She wasn’t alone, and something did not feel right!

A blond woman, trailed by two little girls, all three of them holding a bouquet of flowers, were waiting expectantly.

I said, “(Director), are you moving? I saved this whole row just for you and your family!”

She seemed a bit upset, and informed me that she would be moving to another location. After making sure she was definitely moving… (to me, it seemed like it was against her will), I said, “Then my family and I will be sitting here.” I grabbed my backpack and placed it on the newly vacated chair.

The woman bearing flowers started sputtering something about how she needed to sit there because she needed to take pictures from that angle!

I didn’t really acknowledge her or cave to her demands… but it still felt like I was butting heads with her.

"Butting heads" is a saying that means to be in conflict or disagreement with someone, often in a way that is stubborn or uncompromising. The phrase can also suggest a power struggle or a situation where both parties are unwilling to compromise.

I can definitely relate to the above description.

If you have a stubborn streak that is creating conflict in your life and causing you to butt heads with others, join me in saying the dose of enlightenment below… there is a reason why God did not send you and me to earth to live in a herd of goats! Haha!

With love,

Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!

This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.

If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.

*******************************************************

Today’s emotions are: butting heads with someone

How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how butting heads with someone applies to you.

Dose of Enlightenment: 150 + 850 = E

Say it out loud with intent: “one-fifty plus eight-fifty equals enlightenment.”

Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
