As I sat across the room from her, I just couldn’t quite figure her out. She was friendly, kind, and very pretty. She was easy to talk to and I found myself wanting to know her better. As we conversed, I found myself sharing details of my life.
However, when I would ask her questions in an attempt to get to know her better, she would deflect. She would sit there looking me straight in the eyes with a look on her face, that—to me—said, “I know something you don’t know.”
I felt uncomfortable and wondered why, on the one hand she seemed so friendly, but on the other hand she seemed closed off and secretive. Could her behavior be hypocritical?
A hypocrite is simply someone who wants everyone to believe they are better than they actually are. To accomplish this feat, they have to hide what is really going on in their life.
As I think about it, I realize that on occasion—probably many occasions, I have been guilty of being hypocritical myself. Here are a few actions in my life where I’ve been phony:
1. Pasting on a smile so everyone would believe I was happy, when in reality, I was crying inside.
2. Presenting myself in a way others would hopefully like me—but hiding my vulnerability… because if they really knew me, they wouldn’t like me.
3. Wanting others to look up to me as a spiritual giant, when I’m really not.
I hope you all still like me after reading my list! Isn’t it great that we have the tools to overcome hypocrisy in ourselves when we choose to see it? If we can see it in someone else, it is definitely in us.
As my friend likes to say, “If you spot it, you got it!”
In what ways have you been hypocritical in your life—wanting others to think you are better than you actually think you are? What have you been hiding, and why?
Dig deep to release the new and improved, true version of yourself, then see the Dose of Enlightenment below.
With love,
Jeri

Since we promised to treat you to an extra dose of light in your inbox, we include a Dose of Enlightenment for you at the end of each newsletter. We value your agency, so it’s up to you whether or not you receive it!
This Dose of Enlightenment is a frequency equation meant to clear a hidden and trapped emotion that you’ve been holding onto.
If today's emotion is one that we have already cleared, know that we are addressing a different layer or situation this time.
*******************************************************
Today’s emotion is: hypocritical
How does this emotion apply to you? For best results, ponder this question and identify how hypocritical applies to you.
Dose of Enlightenment: 100 + 900 = E
Say it out loud with intent: "one-hundred plus nine-hundred equals enlightenment.”
Breathe. Let it go. Feel the shift. Allow your body to be filled with light.
